Grace Lutheran has numerous committees to meet the needs of its congregation and to fulfill the Great Commission. In keeping with Christ’s Great Commission, members of Grace are encouraged to actively involve themselves by participating in the different ministries and committees of Grace. If you have spiritual gifts that you would like to share with Grace, please contact our pastor or the church office at 937.859.3941.
Below are the various church committees and a description of their responsibilities and goals. If you have any questions, please call the church office at 937-859-3941, or contact one of our ministry leaders if you would like to be part of one of the church committees.
Christian Education Committee
This committee is responsible for the conduct and promotion of Christian Education in the Sunday School and auxiliary organizations for our church. It will ensure the proper Lutheran materials are used. Within our church the teaching opportunities are: Sunday School, offering additional Bible Studies, Catechism, First Communion, Vacation Bible School and others as offered.
Social Ministry Committee
This committee extends Christian love and compassion to groups with special needs. It will participate and provide spiritual and material needs to those within our community in need. Examples within our church are the Women’s Center Annual Diaper Drive, Navajo Indian Mission, Rockpoint, AZ, W. C. Food Pantry, Operation Share Christmas, and Jeremiah’s Letter.
This committee sees that the church property is properly maintained and protected. Volunteers from within the church may serve but as necessary, local businesses will be contacted for their services. Our church property includes outside needs such as landscaping and exterior repairs as well as interior maintenance. Bids for repairs, remodeling or additions must be sought for consideration of costs.
This committee stimulates and concentrates its efforts to re-awaken the spiritual gifts of members within our church as well as to extend the ministry and reach others within our community. Such contacts may be made through our website ministry, special events, following up with church visitors, welcoming new residents to the community and inviting others to worship.
This committee provides opportunities for Christian fellowship in the life of the church. This committee plans functions as well as maintains the organization and cleanliness of the kitchen area. It includes activities such as our weekly Sunday Fellowship time, family meals for funerals, church picnic planning, and arranging for Lenten soup suppers.
Music and Worship Committee
This committee is responsible for seeing that the worship services are conducted in the proper manner and providing guidance to the church musicians. Responsibilities include readers, ushers, greeters, lay assistants, communion assistants, the altar guild, communion preparation, music, flowers and purchasing of materials for worship as needed.
This committee’s purpose is to promote the expression of Christian faith in our daily lives and to teach the Christian use of money and talents that are used in local, national and world-wide ministries. Christian stewardship is the free and joyous activity in managing all of life and life’s resources for God’s purposes. Stewardship oversees our annual pledge drive, serving as leaders for missions, helping with our annual Holiday Bazaar and other projects we offer.
