Supporting the NALC
North American Lutheran Church

One aspect of the strategic plan adopted by Grace’s council in 2023 is to increase our support of the North American Lutheran Church (NALC).  We intend to achieve this goal through additional financial support and participation in NALC sponsored events.

However, we recently received a much more local and direct opportunity related to this goal: assisting a sister congregation as they navigate a pastoral transition.  The president of the congregation of Living Water Lutheran has asked Pastor Phil to help in two ways:

1) by consecrating communion elements for the congregation monthly, and 2) by being available to minister to emergency pastoral care needs.

After conferring with the executive team of Grace’s council, Pastor Phil has agreed to take on these responsibilities. He will not receive compensation from Living Water.  Please pray for Pastor Phil in these responsibilities and for Living Water as they continue to search for a new pastor for their congregation.

The Grace Outreach Team continues to collect pull tabs for the Ronald McDonald House and cancelled postage stamps, any denomination or Forever stamps (not PreSort or Bulk Rate).  These cancelled stamps will be given to an organization that uses them in support of veterans’ therapy.

Keeping the Little Ones Warm

Last January the Grace Outreach Team collected hats, gloves, and mittens for Jeremiah’s Letter, Inc.  All items were given to help the homeless in the community stay warm this winter.  All sizes were collected.  The Mitten tree was positioned near the side entrance/exit door to the south parking lot next to the West Carrollton Middle School.

Next SHP bed-build event is scheduled for later this year in September.  Details will follow as we get closer to the date.

Jeff Mogg of the Montgomery Ohio Chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace Ministry (SHP) led volunteers at Grace last year with a 25 bed-build goal at 9:00 am on Saturday, September 23, 2023.  Nearly 80 volunteers worked to create the frames that turned out to be 55 beds.
